Greece’s small and medium-sized businesses have seen double-digit growth in both their numbers and their workforce since 2019, according to new government data.
The figures, presented by Minister of State Akis Skertsos, show that all categories of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) expanded between 2019 and 2024.
Growth rates in the number of firms and employees ranged from nearly 14% for very small businesses to over 20% for larger SMEs.
Mr. Skertsos said the data reflects a sustained recovery and proves that SMEs are driving production, exports, and job creation. He credited the growth to government policies designed to foster a more favorable business environment.
"The comparative data year after year shows that the government stands firmly with SMEs," Mr. Skertsos said, adding that his administration will "continue to work hard to reduce barriers" for businesses and workers.
