A 44-year-old Greek singer has been arrested and remanded to Grevena prison pending trial on felony child seduction charges, after the parents of a 14-year-old girl on the island of Syros discovered explicit digital messages on their daughter's phone dating from 2025 and handed them to police.
The Syros-Ermoupoli Criminal Investigation Department apprehended the singer after the Syros Misdemeanor Court Council issued an arrest warrant. Prosecutors elevated the case to a felony following an investigation begun earlier this year.
The suspect's name has been withheld by authorities to protect the minor's identity.
The suspect denies the charges.
His defence says the teenager falsified her age, claiming she told him she was 16 before contacting him on social media and visiting venues where he performed. The victim's family said through their legal representative that they have full confidence in the Greek judicial system.
Before his transfer to Grevena, the suspect was briefly treated under police guard at Syros General Hospital after reporting illness; medical staff cleared him for standard incarceration.
