The Minister of Labour and Social Security Niki Kerameus, has attended the launch of the new 1555 call centre service, which provides video calls in Greek sign language.
According to a relevant announcement, citizens with hearing impairments can now be served in Greek sign language via video call.
Kerameus observed the process of making an appointment in real time on the 1555 website for the sign language service and spoke with service employees. She also watched a test video call between an employee/interpreter and a citizen with hearing impairments.
"Equal access to information is a fundamental priority for public administration. We are expanding the operation of 1555 so that our fellow citizens with hearing impairments can be served without hindrance. We stand by our citizens and care for everyone without exception, with the aim of improving the daily lives of all Greek citizens," said Kerameus.
Appointments can be requested via the website https://1555.gov.gr through the 1555 digital service from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. A relevant video is available on the 1555 website at https://1555.gov.gr/vinteoklisi-stin-noimatiki.
