Greece's ruling New Democracy party topped 30% for the first time in a GPO poll conducted for STAR TV since Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis unveiled a new economic package at the Thessaloniki International Fair, according to results published this week.
New Democracy stood at 30.6% in the poll's adjusted vote projection, followed by Alexis Tsipras' left-wing ELAS party at 16%, and the socialist PASOK, led by Nikos Androulakis, at 12.8%. Greek Solution trailed at 9%, the Communist Party at 8.8%, Pleusi Eleftherias at 4.9% and Foni Logikis at 3.7%. Maria Karystianou's Elpida gia ti Dimokratia continued a steep decline, falling to 3.6%.
In raw voting intention, a separate measure, New Democracy stood at 25.8%, up 0.8 percentage points from June, with ELAS second at 13.5% and PASOK third at 10.8%.
Compared with GPO's previous poll in July, New Democracy gained 1.3 points and PASOK rose 2 points in the adjusted projection, while ELAS slipped slightly and Ms. Karystianou's party dropped 3.5 points.
The survey found 36.2% of respondents viewed Mr. Mitsotakis' newly announced measures positively or somewhat positively, and 44.6% called his program realistic.
By comparison, just 24.6% held a positive view of Mr. Tsipras' economic proposals for ELAS, with only 20% calling them realistic, while PASOK's program drew 26.6% approval and was seen as realistic by about one in five respondents.
The poll is the first major gauge of public opinion since Mr. Mitsotakis used his early-September DETH address to rule out early elections and confirm a spring 2027 vote under his current Cabinet.
