Greece's governing New Democracy party has begun drafting its policy program for the next four years, asking Cabinet ministers and lawmakers to submit proposals as the country heads toward national elections expected next spring.
Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, who is coordinating the platform with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, sent two separate letters requesting input from government members and the party's parliamentary group. Contributions are due within about a month.
Ministers were asked to submit proposals for their own portfolios that reflect the views of their ministry's full political leadership.
Lawmakers were invited to make proposals on any area of government policy, drawing on their parliamentary work and the concerns of their constituents.
The move is the latest sign that the conservative party is moving into campaign mode. Last week, Mr. Hatzidakis urged members of the party's youth wing to "carry the next election battle on their shoulders," calling the coming vote "a battle for Greece."
Party secretary Konstantinos Kyranakis has also said he is optimistic that New Democracy can again win an outright majority.
New Democracy has governed Greece since 2019 and won a second term with a parliamentary majority in 2023.
Mr. Mitsotakis' current term ends in mid-2027.
The government has recently rolled out new measures to ease the cost of living, including heating oil subsidies and fuel price cuts, as rising energy costs remain a top concern for voters.
