Greek police say they have dismantled a gang responsible for a series of armed robberies at kiosks and mini-markets in several Athens suburbs, following the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect last week.
The gang is linked to at least five knife-point robberies in the northeastern Attica neighborhoods of Irakleio, Pefki, and Nea Ionia since at least February.
According to authorities, the group typically operated late at night, threatening employees with knives and using violence if they met resistance.
The 19-year-old was arrested last week.
A subsequent search of his home uncovered a knife and clothing worn during the robberies, police said. Video footage released by Greek media shows the perpetrators in action during the hold-ups.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including participation in a criminal gang and robbery with violence. The police investigation is ongoing as authorities search for other members of the group.
