Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday to attend an international summit aimed at finalizing a peace agreement to end the war in Gaza, he announced.

"Tomorrow I will be in Sharm el-Sheikh… for the signing of the agreement," Mr. Mitsotakis said in his weekly social media address.

"Greece is one of the European countries that will be present, along with Cyprus."

The prime minister described the agreement as historic.

"For the first time, a realistic prospect of peace is being created in the wider region." He also credited former U.S. President Donald Trump for the initiative.

Mr. Mitsotakis said Greece stands ready to help implement the deal.

"We are in constant dialogue with all our partners… and we are ready to contribute actively so that this agreement moves forward and does not remain just words," he added.

The summit, hosted by Egypt, is expected to be attended by more than 20 world leaders, including Mr. Trump.
