Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis has made an urgent appeal to the United Nations Security Council for "mass, safe, uninterrupted humanitarian aid access" to all parts of the Gaza Strip.
"Words cannot describe what is unfolding in the Gaza Strip.
The humanitarian disaster continues unabated," Mr. Gerapetritis said during a critical session on the Middle East.
"For nearly two years, the civilian population has endured extremely adverse and deeply concerning living conditions. No one should be forced to live like this."
He warned that the expansion of military operations into Gaza City has caused further displacement and exacerbated the severe crisis, putting more civilian lives at risk.
"Any further escalation... must be avoided," he stressed.
Mr. Gerapetritis highlighted Greece’s own efforts to provide medical and hospital assistance to children from the war-torn area and reiterated the "imperative need" for aid to reach all parts of Gaza promptly and without restriction.
