Greek authorities have arrested a 32-year-old man accused of raping his wife inside their home, filming the assault on his phone and sharing the video with others, according to police.
The case came to light after the 31-year-old woman went to the Oropos police station on Friday evening and filed a complaint against her husband, describing repeated abuse in the coastal area of Agioi Apostoloi.
Police said she told investigators he assaulted her earlier that day, recorded the attack and then sent the footage electronically to multiple recipients.
Officers arrested the suspect at the couple’s home shortly after the complaint. Investigators said the woman showed signs of trauma, including cuts and bruises. Forensic experts are now examining the man’s devices to trace who received the video.
Medical reports also indicated the couple’s 8-year-old son was in the home during the assault.
The suspect has not been publicly identified to protect the privacy of the victim and child. He faces felony charges including domestic violence, rape within marriage, revenge pornography and violations of personal privacy laws.
Prosecutors ordered him detained without bail pending formal arraignment. The woman has entered a state-protected witness program, according to her legal counsel.
