Greece's newly established Organized Crime Unit, widely known as the "Greek FBI," has dismantled a sophisticated drug trafficking ring operating on the resort island of Mykonos, arresting six suspects including the alleged ringleader and his partner.
The operation led to the seizure of narcotics hidden inside suitcases and shoes at a residence and a designated stash house in the Agios Stefanos area, with parallel raids extending into Athens. Officers recovered more than two kilograms of cocaine, 600 grams of "pink cocaine," 600 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 170 grams of ketamine, one kilogram of unprocessed cannabis and 700 ecstasy tablets.
Police sources said the suspected mastermind is an Albanian national with a prior record for narcotics offenses, who operates a commercial van company transporting tourists across the island — a business investigators believe was used to facilitate the distribution network.
The ringleader's partner, a Romanian national, is suspected of acting as the operation's primary courier. Anti-narcotics detectives, who monitored the network for several months, said she regularly travelled to Mykonos on weekends to transport the illicit cargo.
The bust comes as the Greek FBI intensifies its crackdown on organized networks targeting premium tourist destinations during the peak summer season. All six suspects face charges of forming a criminal organization and felony drug trafficking and remain in custody pending formal arraignment.
