The Riviera Tower in Elliniko has completed its structural frame at 200 meters, becoming Greece's tallest residential skyscraper and the tallest seaside "green" residential tower in the Mediterranean, developer LAMDA Development announced, as construction shifts to interior finishing ahead of a summer 2027 delivery.

The building permit, issued in August 2022, followed one of the most complex approval processes ever conducted for a private project in Greece, requiring thousands of technical drawings and sign-off from multiple ministries and regulatory bodies.

The tower's foundation was completed in October 2023 after 300 piles, each 1.5 meters in diameter, were driven 35 to 50 meters into the ground, followed by the largest continuous concrete pour ever conducted in Greece: more than 40 uninterrupted hours using eight pumps and over 1,000 truck deliveries, totaling roughly 7,500 cubic meters of concrete and 1,760 tons of reinforcement steel, built to standards used on the Burj Khalifa and Petronas Towers.

The tower's architecture was designed by Foster + Partners in collaboration with Alexandros Tombazis's firm, with structural and engineering work by UK-based Buro Happold, while construction was carried out by a joint venture of Bouygues Bâtiment International and AKTOR.

More than 100 specialties and over 20 engineers work on-site daily, coordinated through shared digital design and project-management systems.

With the structural phase complete, the project has entered mechanical, electrical and interior finishing work, and future residents have begun visiting the site to select materials and finishes for their units, which LAMDA said sold out before construction even began.

Landscape design by the doxiadis+ studio incorporates native Mediterranean vegetation with low irrigation needs, aiming for a LEED Gold sustainability certification that includes reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint.

LAMDA Development CEO Odysseas Athanasiou has described the project's goal as creating an internationally significant architectural landmark centered on sustainability and quality of life.

Significant construction work remains before the tower's scheduled 2027 completion, part of the broader redevelopment of the former Elliniko airport site into one of Europe's largest urban regeneration projects.
