Greece will make an early repayment of €6.9 billion in debt linked to its initial eurozone bailout loans next month, Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis has confirmed, as the country's accelerating fiscal recovery continues to outpace expectations.

Speaking to Reuters, Mr. Pierrakakis said the repayment will push Greece's public debt ratio toward 130 percent of GDP by 2027 — a milestone that would have been inconceivable a decade ago when the country was surviving on emergency international financing and its debt stood above 200 percent of GDP.

Mr. Pierrakakis praised the Public Debt Management Agency, describing its leadership as the "silent heroes" of Greece's economic recovery for their sustained work in reducing the country's debt burden and restoring market credibility.

In a separate development, a London court ruled that Greece correctly calculated the price at which it repurchased GDP-linked warrants last year, resolving a long-running legal dispute. Trustee Wilmington Trust and a group of creditors had brought the case before the High Court of Justice, arguing they had been underpaid relative to market value.

The court found that Greece's debt management agency applied the pricing methodology set out in the bond documentation.

The early repayment and court ruling are the latest markers of Greece's transformed fiscal position.

The country has recorded three consecutive years of primary budget surpluses exceeding 4 percent of GDP and is on course to become the eurozone's second-most indebted country in 2026 — overtaking Italy — after holding the bloc's highest debt ratio for more than a decade.
