The Greek government is preparing a new economic relief package worth at least 1.5 billion euros, which will include income tax cuts and other benefits aimed primarily at supporting the middle class, with a formal announcement expected in early September.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to unveil the measures during his keynote address at the Thessaloniki International Fair, the country’s largest annual economic forum.
According to government sources, the package will be funded by better-than-expected tax revenues and spending containment.
Key proposals include reducing income tax rates for earnings up to 50,000 euros, increasing tax-free allowances for families with children, and new support for pensioners.
The plan also reportedly includes measures to address the housing crisis by increasing the supply of properties and additional financial support for police, coast guard, and fire service personnel.
Final decisions on the package are expected next week after a consultation with the European Commission
