Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis has met with the new U.S. ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as Athens seeks to capitalize on growing American interest in its rebounding economy.
The meeting underscored Washington’s expanding engagement with Athens amid heightened regional instability.
Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized the "longstanding dynamism" of the relationship.
In a statement, he noted the partnership is built on "a stable foundation of trust" that allows both nations to look forward "with optimism and confidence."
"Greece has made a strong comeback and is becoming an increasingly appealing destination for U.S. capital," Mr. Pierrakakis said.
He highlighted the potential for further bilateral cooperation, wishing Mrs. Guilfoyle success in her new role.
The discussion comes as the U.S. deepens ties with Greece in energy, defense, and investment following recent bilateral agreements. Washington has characterized Greece as a "frontline player" in European energy security, while American companies have increased their footprint in the country's technology and LNG sectors.
Mrs. Guilfoyle, who arrived in Athens earlier this month, is expected to prioritize energy security and technology-driven investment during her tenure, helping to consolidate Greece's position as a NATO anchor in the Eastern Mediterranean.
