The Greek Ministry of Labor has introduced a sweeping new labor bill for public consultation that aims to modernize the country's work laws by offering more flexibility while boosting worker protections.
A key feature of the new framework is the expansion of flexible work arrangements, including an option for working parents to have a four-day workweek year-round.
The bill also strengthens worker rights, guaranteeing a 40% pay premium for all overtime and making it illegal for an employer to cut an employee's salary after the adoption of the digital work card, which tracks working hours.
The government said the legislation is designed to reduce bureaucracy, enhance workplace safety, and create a more transparent and modern business environment.
