The Greek government has launched a new digital platform to make it easier for individuals relocating to Greece to apply for a special, favorable tax regime on their employment and business income.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) announced that applicants can now submit their requests and receive an immediate eligibility decision through the myAADE online portal.

The new process was established by Deputy Finance Minister George Kotsiras and AADE Administrator George Pitsilis. To be eligible for the special tax treatment, applicants must meet several criteria, including:

  • Not having been a tax resident in Greece for five of the previous six years.
  • Transferring tax residency from an E.U. or EEA member state, or a country with a tax cooperation agreement with Greece.
  • Working for a Greek company or conducting personal business activity in Greece.
  • Declaring an intention to reside in Greece for at least two years.

The initiative is part of a broader government strategy to attract foreign investment, remote workers, and "digital nomads" by offering a clear and efficient process for securing tax benefits.
