Greece will establish a new military training school focused on drones and anti-drone systems in the city of Tripoli, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has announced.
Speaking at an event commemorating the 204th anniversary of the Liberation of Tripolitsa, Mr. Dendias said the new school is part of the government's "Agenda 2030" for defense modernization and reflects the growing importance of unmanned aerial vehicles in modern warfare.
"The survival of Hellenism is our constitutional and national duty," Mr. Dendias said.
"Our country’s security is not a given... It requires both strong alliances and strong Armed Forces.”
He said the school will transform the city's traditional conscript training center into a modern "hub where innovation, new technologies and advanced capabilities become the main element of our Armed Forces."
