More than 20 million tourists visited Greece in the first seven months of 2026, an 8.6% increase over the same period last year, driving tourism revenue up 12% to €13.5 billion, according to Bank of Greece data.
Revenue from EU-27 residents rose 6.9% to €7.09 billion, while spending from visitors outside the EU jumped 18.3% to €5.78 billion. Within the eurozone, receipts climbed 11.3% to €5.88 billion, while non-eurozone EU spending fell 10.4% to €1.21 billion.
German spending dipped slightly, down 0.7% to €1.98 billion, and French receipts fell 16.8% to €623.7 million.
Italian visitor spending surged 31.6% to €828.1 million, while receipts from the United Kingdom rose 23.3% to €2.91 billion and from the United States climbed 7.9% to €1.06 billion.
July alone saw 6.55 million arrivals, down 3.1% year-over-year, though the seven-month total still reached 20.43 million travelers, up from 18.45 million in 2025.
Airport arrivals rose 6% and road border crossings jumped 17.5%.
Arrivals from EU-27 countries climbed 8.6% to 11.56 million, while arrivals from other countries rose 8.7% to 8.48 million.
