Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will launch a new automated system in October to issue immediate fines for late income tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) filings.
The system, part of a broader digital overhaul of the tax service, is designed to improve compliance by eliminating bureaucratic delays.
Fines will be issued and delivered to taxpayers automatically upon a missed deadline.
Penalties are set at €100 for late income tax returns.
For late VAT filings, the fine is €250 for businesses with simplified accounting and €500 for those with double-entry books.
No penalties will be applied for late amended returns if the initial filing was submitted on time.
