The 43-year-old man, a Georgian national, accused of an attack with a fork on his pregnant partner, whom he seriously injured, has been remanded in custody following his statement to the authorities.
The Georgian, who faces charges of grievous bodily harm, a felony, and two misdemeanours, allegedly did not clarify the nature of the charges against him, refusing to respond to questions from both the investigating officer and the prosecutor.
The defendant’s counsel has requested a psychiatric evaluation, citing previous mental health issues and the 43-year-old’s involuntary hospitalisation in a psychiatric institution.
