When it came time to pay, the 92-year-old discovered he did not have enough cash and told the employee he would no longer be purchasing the fuel.

The employee reacted angrily, insisting he had already issued a receipt that could not be canceled.

The elderly man maintained he was unable to pay and attempted to leave. According to reports, the employee then followed him and poured the gasoline from the container over him, splashing fuel on his face and body.

Officers from Greece's DIAS motorcycle police unit responded to the scene and arrested the employee, transporting him to the Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni Police Station.

A criminal case has been filed against him on charges of dangerous bodily harm.

The condition of the 92-year-old victim following the incident has not been disclosed.
