The funeral for Marissa Laimou, the 30-year-old Greek shipping heiress who died suddenly in London last month, will be held in the U.K. before her body is repatriated to Greece for burial, a family member has said.
A preliminary coroner's report attributed the death of Ms. Laimou to sepsis caused by an insect bite.
However, her family has hired lawyers and is pursuing a medical negligence claim, raising concerns about the hospital care she received just hours before her death.
According to reports, Ms. Laimou visited a London hospital with low oxygen and blood pressure but was diagnosed with a "toxic effect of venom" and discharged with antibiotics.
She was found dead in her Knightsbridge home on Sept. 11.
A relative confirmed that Ms. Laimou, the daughter of shipowner Diamantis Laimou, had previously been treated for breast cancer and a rare immune disorder, which may have compromised her immune system. Final autopsy results are still pending.
