A 30-year-old foreign national has been arrested after allegedly using his smartphone to covertly photograph and film women and underage girls at a beach in central Greece, followingan alert from one of his victims.
Police apprehended the man at Agia Marina beach in Stylida, Phthiotis, after a young female bather called emergency services having noticed him repeatedly pointing his phone at women and girls along the crowded shoreline. Officers intercepted the suspect on the beach and seized his device.
A preliminary examination of the phone uncovered multiple unauthorized photographs and video recordings targeting both adult women and female minors. The device has been sent to the Forensic Science Division in Athens for full data extraction to determine whether any material was uploaded to online platforms or shared through messaging networks.
The suspect, who does not reside in the area, remained in custody at Stylida police station Sunday night and was due to appear before the Lamia First Instance Prosecutor on Monday. Formal charges — misdemeanor or felony — are pending the outcome of the forensic report.
