Five people were arrested by police on Wednesday over the gunning down of a Polish professor, 43, on a street in Aghia Paraskevi on July 4.
According to police sources, the arrested individuals include the professor's former wife (as instigator), her partner (as the perpetrator), and three men - two from Albania and one from Bulgaria (as accomplices).
Police sources said that the woman has so far denied her involvement, while her partner appears to have confessed. He also revealed to police that he bought the gun for the murder in Omonia. The gun has not been found yet.
Regarding the other three men, they had rented the car that transported the perpetrator to the site of the murder and then helped him escape. The three claim they were not aware of his intentions.
The 43-year-old victim, police said, appears to have had a strained relationship with his ex-wife on issues related to their two children, as well as on financial issues.
