Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' announcements about large-scale projects in Thessaloniki on Thursday were akin to a fiesta "in an effort to turn around the negative climate against him and convince citizens under financial pressure and small and medium-sized enterprises suffocating under the sharp fall of turnover to change their minds," SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Sokratis Famellos said.
Responding to a progress report by Mitsotakis and ministers on Macedonia projects ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) inauguration on September 6, Famellos criticized the premier for "not daring to say a word about the port project (Thessaloniki Port Authority), the Transit Trade Center, and the road and railroad connection that have been stuck for the last 6 years." The delays, he said, "nullified Thessaloniki's role as a trade and transportation hub in the Balkans!"
