"We need a progressive alternative, because things just can't keep going the way they are under Mr. Mitsotakis," SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Sokratis Famellos said on Thursday at the press conference held within the framework of the 89th TIF.
He added that "Mitsotakis is delegitimized and must resign".
In response to a question about former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Famellos replied that "Mr. Tsipras is a valuable asset for Greece and a valuable supporter in the effort for a progressive Greece; we have agreed on a unified response effort and we have also agreed on this with Mr. Tsipras."
He spoke about the need for unity of social and political forces and noted: "We are not opening a discussion about fragmentation, we want to increase our numbers. Any discussion about fragmentation or independence is unthinkable."
Asked by the Athens-Macedonian News Agency about SYRIZA's electoral goal, he replied that it is "to serve the needs of society and society needs a breather."
He added that "the goal is the change of both government and policy as well as the emergence of a progressive government as soon as possible."
