Tesla CEO Elon Musk has weighed in on Greece's demographic crisis, tweeting "The end of Greece" in response to a news report detailing hundreds of school closures across the country due to falling birth rates.
The tweet from Mr. Musk highlighted a recent Financial Times report noting that more than 750 Greek schools have shut down in recent years.
According to Greece's Ministry of Education, the number of primary school students has fallen by over 111,000, a 19% decrease, since 2018.
The comment is the latest in a series of warnings from Mr. Musk about Europe's low birth rates. He has previously posted on his social media platform, X, that the continent must "start having big families or continue dying" to avoid a population collapse.
The high-profile commentary brings renewed international attention to a long-term crisis that Greek authorities have described as a "demographic collapse," threatening the country's future economic and social stability.
