Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has unequivocally dismissed speculation about early elections, changes to the electoral law, or the possibility of a coalition government led by another prime minister, insisting that the next vote will take place as scheduled in the spring of 2027.
In a prime-time television interview, Mr. Mitsotakis offered a firm "no" to all three scenarios.
"I have said many times that I do not change the rules of the game in motion," he told journalist Nikos Chatzinikolaou on ANT1, reaffirming his belief that "single-party majority governments are better than coalition governments."
When asked about a potential coalition under a different leader if his party fails to win an outright majority, Mr. Mitsotakis dismissed the idea as not "very serious," saying,"The prime minister is elected by the people, not by power brokers."
He described such political rumors as "science fiction" that does not resonate with the public, whose main concerns are economic issues like rent, electricity costs, and wages.
"My task is to convince the people that what we propose is right," Mr. Mitsotatos concluded.
