Tennis champion Novak Djokovic has met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, discussing the future of Greece's ATP 250 tournament.
The meeting at the Maximos Mansion focused on attracting top-tier players and resolving a potential scheduling conflict for 2026.
If the event is held during the same period as this year, it may not award points toward ATP Finals qualification, a change that could deter major stars from participating.
Mr. Djokovic was accompanied by his brother, Djordje Djokovic, and the Hellenic Tennis Federation president, Theodoros Glavas.
Mr. Mitsotakis later confirmed the discussion in a public statement.
"Today I welcomed tennis legend Novak Djokovic," Mr. Mitsotakis wrote. "We discussed how we can take Greek tennis even higher, following the great success of the Hellenic Championship ATP 250."
The prime minister said Greece intends to upgrade the event and further develop the sport nationally.
Consultations are expected to continue as Greece seeks to secure a stronger position on the international tennis calendar.
