The mandatory use of the Digital Work Card in sectors has revealed the high percentage of actual overtime work, Labor and Social Insurance Minister Niki Kerameus said on Monday, which protects employees from underpaid practices.
"Impressive rise of registered overtime hours in sectors in which the Digital Work Card is mandatory, according to data for the first half of 2025," the minister said in a social media post.
Specifically, she noted the following:

The data for the first half of 2025 shows an impressive rise of of registered overtime hours in sectors in which the Digital Work Card is mandatory:
+81% relative to the same 6 months in 2024
+110% relative to June 2024
The greatest rise is recorded in tourism:
+855% in 6 months
+800% in June alone
Significant rises in other key sectors:
- Retail stores: +111% (6 months), +146% (June)
- Industry: +77% (6 months), +68% (June)
- Food services: +115% (6 months), +226% (June).
The Digital Card is not simply a technological tool, it is a protection for employees and a lever of transparency in the labor market."
