Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who thanked Greece for its military presence and the contribution of its Patriot missile battery, as Houthi attacks target the kingdom.
Mr. Dendias, on an unannounced visit, said he passed on greetings from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
They discussed strategic cooperation, regional security and threats to stability, he wrote on X.
He then met Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, with whom he reviewed ways to deepen armed forces cooperation and defense innovation.
Saudi media reported the ministers condemned the Houthi attacks. Prince Khalid again thanked Greece for the Patriot battery.
The visit follows Houthi strikes on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, including a missile attack Saturday that killed 12 people and wounded more than 300, Saudi authorities said. Greece's Foreign Ministry advised citizens Sunday to avoid travel to the kingdom.
The battery is politically sensitive in Athens.
Mr. Dendias said it shot down two Iranian missiles aimed at Saudi oil refineries earlier this year, and opposition parties warn the deployment risks drawing Greece into regional war.
Greece's security council extended it last week by one month while talks with Riyadh continue.
Mr. Dendias said earlier he expects the matter to be resolved.
