A noticeable drop in temperature and clear skies are forecast across Greece this week, offering a welcome respite from the recent period of record-breaking heat and wildfires, meteorologists say.
Maximum temperatures on Monday are expected to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius (100 F) on the mainland and 36 C on the Aegean islands. Meteorologist Mr. Giannis Kallianos of MEGA TV said that "clear skies will prevail nationwide."
Temperatures are forecast to drop slightly further on Tuesday.
By the end of the week, some northern and eastern mainland areas may see occasional rain showers.
In Athens, clear skies are expected with a high of 38 C, while Thessaloniki will see a high of 36 C. The cooler weather is expected to continue through the week.
