The launch of a pilot program for the policing of public transport in the area of Western Athens, with the deployment of 130 police officers on buses of the Athens Public Transport Authority and suburban trains, was announced by the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis.
Chrysochoidis, in his address at a conference organised by the Development Association of Western Athens, stressed that the 130 police officers are being deployed as part of a program designed by the Ministry of Citizen Protection and will be present on suburban buses and trains from the time they start service until midnight.
They will patrol in uniform or plain clothes to enhance passenger safety and address incidents of delinquency.
