Five years after his daughter was murdered in a case that gripped Greece and Britain, David Crouch says his anger toward her killer, former Greek pilot Babis Anagnostopoulos, has not faded.
"I hate him. I hate him from the depths of my soul, because he's a coward," Mr. Crouch said on the Greek television program "Proto Kafe me ti Zina," describing Mr. Anagnostopoulos as too fearful to confront his 22-year-old wife, Caroline, directly.
"He had to wait until she was asleep before he put a pillow over her head. That's not the behavior of a man. He's small, weak and narcissistic. He hates being proven wrong."
Mr. Anagnostopoulos, a pilot, was convicted of killing Caroline in their home in the Athens suburb of Glyka Nera in May 2021, in front of the couple's infant daughter, Lydia, then just one year old.
He is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Mr. Crouch said his focus now is on Lydia, now 6, who lives with her grandmother in the Philippines.
He said the girl attends school and leads an ordinary life, unaware that her mother was murdered.
"She doesn't know about her mother. She doesn't know she was murdered by some Greek psychopath," he said, adding that Lydia will never meet her father, who will remain imprisoned well into her adulthood.
Mr. Crouch said he initially found Mr. Anagnostopoulos likable when they first met, describing him as quiet and pleasant, but said he "lost all feelings" for Caroline's mother, Susan, the moment Caroline was killed, clarifying the two were never married.
Mr. Crouch welcomed news of an upcoming Amazon Prime documentary on the case, saying it keeps his daughter's memory alive and could complicate any future parole bid by her killer.
