Athens taxi drivers are staging a nine-hour work stoppage Tuesday, from 3 p.m. to midnight, to protest new road rule changes that restrict their access to bus lanes.
The union argues the new regulations are disrespectful to both drivers and passengers.
Under the revised rules, taxis in Athens are now only permitted to enter bus lanes, located on the outer sides of main roads, for a maximum of 30 seconds.
The brief window is strictly for passenger pick-up or drop-off.
In a statement, the Athens Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) sharply criticized the decision, accusing Transport Minister Christos Dimas of "mocking the sector with the 30-second provision."
The union added that the measure "not only shows disrespect to professional drivers, but primarily to passengers using taxis."
