Four more people, including the victim's sister and a lifeguard, have been arrested in connection with the drowning death of a 12-year-old girl who was swept out to sea in northern Greece last Friday, authorities said.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Shipping, the girl’s sister has been charged with endangerment.
A speedboat operator, a municipal employee, and a lifeguard face charges of failure to render assistance.
The new arrests on Sunday follow the detention of the girl’s parents on Saturday on charges of exposing a minor to danger, bringing the total number of people arrested in the case to six.
The girl, who reportedly could not swim, was carried away from the shore near Imeros in the Rhodope region despite wearing a life jacket and inflatable floaters.
She was found unresponsive after a large rescue operation and was later pronounced dead.
