The leader of PASOK - Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis, in a statement on International Family Day, referred to the multiple challenges facing the Greek family.
He stressed that the accuracy of the family income is affecting the family income, making it difficult to cover basic needs and fixed financial obligations.
He also stressed that families are faced with high energy costs, 50% increases in house rents over the last four years and high private health and education costs.
Androulakis also said that "the figures are revealing of the way the government is treating families fiscally. According to the OECD, Greece ranks 4th worst among the OECD countries for inequality in tax burden. In 2024, for a worker with two children, the tax burden reached 37.3% of the average gross wage. All this while we face one of the world's most acute demographic problems. The need for a more effective and targeted tax policy is more necessary than ever."
