The chief of Greece’s AKTOR Group held high-stakes meetings with Saudi Arabia’s investment minister and the Trump Organization at the World Economic Forum this week, aggressively pitching Athens as a prime destination for energy and real estate capital.
Alexandros Exarchou, chairman and CEO of AKTOR, met with Saudi Investment Minister Khalid A. Al-Falih to discuss funding for Greece’s expanding energy infrastructure, specifically liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects and the "vertical energy corridor" pipeline network.
The meeting, attended by U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, underscored the strategic alignment between Athens, Riyadh, and Washington regarding regional energy security.
Mr. Al-Falih, a former CEO of Saudi Aramco, has been a key figure in strengthening Saudi-Greek economic ties.
Separately, Mr. Exarchou sat down with Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, to explore opportunities in the Greek real estate market. Sources familiar with the talks said Mr. Trump discussed the country's economic recovery and potential development projects.
The outreach comes as the Greek government seeks to cement the nation's role as a logistics and energy gateway for Southeastern Europe.
By targeting high-profile investors like the Saudi sovereign wealth structures and the U.S. president's family business, Mr. Exarchou is aiming to secure capital for AKTOR’s project portfolio amid a global reshuffling of supply chains.
