For the first time in 15 years, the Parthenon temple on the Acropolis can be seen entirely unobstructed, after the last major pieces of scaffolding were removed from the ancient monument late last month.
The removal of the metal framework from the west side of the Parthenon marks a major milestone in a decades-long restoration and maintenance project.
Visitors can now enjoy a clear view of the 5th-century B.C. temple, particularly from the area around the Odeon of Herodes Atticus below.
While the massive external scaffolding is gone, officials said that smaller, more flexible platforms will still be used for targeted conservation work on the monument in the near future.
