The Acropolis Museum will celebrate the August full moon by extending its hours until midnight on Saturday, Aug. 9, offering visitors the chance to tour its galleries with a view of the Acropolis illuminated by moonlight.
The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight, with standard admission fees applying. The on-site restaurant will also remain open late, with reservations required.
Special events for the day include guided tours in Greek, with one in the morning titled “Water Routes” and another in the evening focusing on the temporary exhibition, “Allspice – Michael Rakowitz and Ancient Cultures.”
The “Allspice” exhibit, which features works by Iraqi-American artist Mr. Michael Rakowitz, is free to the public. The on-site Excavation Museum will also have extended hours, remaining open until 8 p.m.
