An estimated 5,000 Hells Angels members and affiliates from across Europe are converging on the western Greek port city of Igoumenitsa for the three-day Euro Run 2026 event, as Greek anti-organized crime and drug enforcement units deploy around the venue and border police arrest seven riders arriving from Bulgaria carrying concealed knives, batons and brass knuckles.
The event runs through June 7 at the Drepano beach camping grounds. Hundreds of foreign riders arrived by ferry from Italy at the port of Igoumenitsa, while more than 100 from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ukraine and Slovakia crossed the Promachonas land border station.
The seven arrested at the border were found with the weapons on entry checks.
Authorities have established security perimeters around the site and compiled registry logs of incoming attendees at sea and land entry points.
The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime is among the units deployed. Public prosecutors confirmed the gathering is lawful but said law enforcement has a mandate of zero tolerance for public disturbances.
The Municipality of Igoumenitsa has imposed emergency traffic restrictions on roads leading to the Drepano peninsula.
The security operation is shaped in part by the last time the Hells Angels held a major international convention in Igoumenitsa, in 2015, when a violent altercation outside a local tavern left a 41-year-old Greek man dead.
The influx has delivered a significant economic boost to the region, with local hotels, restaurants and holiday rentals fully booked for the duration of the event.
