Firefighters across Greece responded to 30 new wildfires in the last 24 hours, with crews managing to quickly contain most of the blazes while two remained active, according to the country’s Fire Service.
Of the 30 rural and forest fires that broke out, 28 were promptly brought under control in their initial stages.
Investigators from the Arson Crimes Division are probing the causes of the fires.
Authorities are urging the public to be extremely cautious and to follow all official safety instructions, as the risk of new fires remains high during the peak summer season.
