One of the most striking superyachts to pass through Greek waters this year, the 81-meter AIR, was spotted transiting the Corinth Canal, owned by Italian billionaire Augusto Perfetti.
Mr. Perfetti and his brother, Giorgio Perfetti, are heirs and co-owners of Perfetti Van Melle, the world's third-largest confectionery and chewing gum company.
The vessel, valued at roughly $120 million, was built by Dutch shipyard Feadship, one of the world's leading superyacht builders, and named in tribute to the company's Air Action chewing gum brand.
Designed for high-end entertaining, AIR accommodates up to 14 guests with a crew of 24, and features an interior by designer Remi Tessier.
Powered by twin MTU diesel engines, the yacht has a range of 6,400 nautical miles.
Giorgos Vallis, president of Greece's yacht services and tourism confederation PEPIETH, said the passage of a superyacht of this scale carries real significance for Greek yachting, calling it further evidence of the country's growing prominence on the global map of luxury maritime tourism as Greece continues attracting high-profile vessels along its coastal routes.
