Bailout monitors arrive to Athens but venue of the talks remains uncertain [photos]

Negotiators from Greece’s bailout monitors will fly to Athens on Monday but differences over venues and access to staff and ministries remain.

After assuming office, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras declared that the "troika" was finished, and refused to let representatives from the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund negotiators into Greek ministry buildings, insisting instead on discreet meetings in Athens hotels, and talks in Brussels.

Soon after Greek legislators have approved two sets of tough new conditions set by the EU lenders for talks on the bailout the ministry inspections look set to start again.

But Athens has demanded restrictions on negotiators, including on whom creditors could meet and what topics were to be discussed in the talks.

Greek authorities had also insisted negotiators no longer use the Athens Hilton as their base instead proposing hotels far from the capital's government quarter. But senior officials from Greece's bailout monitors have rejected the offer insisting that the teams arriving on Monday should stay at the Hilton, a hotel close to central Syntagma Square and a short drive to the finance ministry.

Apparently the Greek government has conceded as the hotel is surrounded by police vans.

Because of differences over the venue for talks, the Greek central bank, which is a short walk from the finance ministry and other government buildings near Syntagma Square, has offered to host negotiations if logistical issues cannot be ironed out.
