Iskra, a radical leftwing website sponsored by Syriza's Left Platform openly opposed the Greek Prime.
The article came after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras delivered a message, during a meeting with colleagues on Tuesday, to those who disagree with his choice to proceed with an agreement for a third bailout saying that they should propose alternatives and stop “hiding behind his signature.”
As Iskra reports:
“Since Tuesday afternoon establishment media are celebrating after the Prime Minister's statements to his colleagues were leaked to the press by “government officials”. All mass media report that Alexis Tsipras intends to purge Syriza of those who voice their opposition to the third Memorandum, thus signaling a split within Syriza.”
Iskra, which is controlled by supporters of former minister for energy and the environment Panagiotis Lafazanis, argued that it was the Prime Minister's fault that the government lacked a credible fall-back plan of how to default.
While a “Plan B” which involved an unprecedented step of getting rid of the euro, returning back to the drachma, nationalizing Greece's banks and cutting off its banking system from the European Central Bank had the backing of MPs from the 'Left Platform', as well as other hard-line groupings in Syriza's spectrum, the Greek premier decided to reach agreement with Greece's eurozone creditors and the International Monetary Fund.
