Government officials have voiced their disquiet of new plans for even more austerity measures.
Greek prime Alexis Tsipras submitted his proposals for a third bail-out to Eurogroup's president late Thursday evening and is now convening his party's lawmakers for discussions Friday morning before the parliamentary debate.
There are fears that new plan, which includes concessions the leftist government of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had previously refused to accept, would face opposition from hardliners in the ruling Syriza party as well as its junior coalition ally, right-wing Anel (Independent Greeks).
Energy minister Panagiotis Lafazanis who is the leader of SYRIZA’s hard-line “Left Platform” and right-wing defense minister Panos Kammenos have not put their signature to the plans.
"The choices we have are tough ... but the worst, the most humiliating and unbearable choice is an agreement that will surrender, loot and subjugate our people and this country," Lafazanis told a business conference on Thursday, before the Greek proposal was finalized.
The Greek PM is likely to have the backing of his opposition MPs from centre-right parties - who have made a pledge of national unity - to keep the country in the euro zone. But failure to deliver votes from his own government would likely topple his coalition.
Any new ESM loan deal would also need majority votes by national parliaments including the German Bundestag, where attitudes toward Greece have hardened.
