Members of the Greek government now perceive Jean-Claude Juncker a former friend turned enemy as Deputy Foreign Minister unleashes a rage upon the President of the European Commission.
Choundis spoke out on Juncker in an interview for Star News, “Junker is not a Grecophile, he serves other interests. We are also disappointed by Mr. Junker and all these people who claim to be Grecophiles” Choundis said.
These remarks came in the aftermath of the statements made by Junker on Sunday when the EC President, speaking ahead of the G7 summit, vented some frustration at Tsipras for rejecting the lenders' proposals last week without telling his parliament that sticking points such as income support for pensioners had been put on the table for negotiations.
The EC President said he was still waiting for Greece to produce the set of economic reform plans it had promised after rejecting creditors' demands. Greece's proposals should be carefully examined and evaluated by its creditors before we move on to the next step of negotiations he added.
